Two applications, different jobs
Listen combines two independent audio applications. The native side explores a modular DJ/mixing workspace in Rust, while the browser side focuses on analysis and measurement rather than duplicating the native engine.
This separation makes the project interesting as both an audio-processing architecture and an interface experiment: playback/mixing and inspection can evolve along different technical paths.
Native processing and browser inspection
- A CPAL-based native audio stream and two-deck mixing bus.
- Separate decoding, DSP, engine and application crates.
- A Linkwitz-Riley crossover/kill-EQ design and limiting stage.
- GPU-oriented egui presentation.
- Browser loudness, peak, spectrum, key and stereo-analysis views.
Measure claims with the right scope
The web implementation uses React, TypeScript and Web Audio, while the native workspace uses Rust audio and UI libraries. Algorithm names describe implementation goals and components, not an independent calibration certificate.
Device support, latency and measurement accuracy depend on the actual build and runtime. The featured scene is a conceptual audio studio, not a screenshot of either application or a specification of bundled hardware.
