Keep shared workstations understandable
MKR:CTRL supports the setup and maintenance of Linux Mint loaner computers in a makerspace. Its design favors a small, inspectable management system over a broad enterprise platform.
Ansible remains the configuration source of truth and can work independently of the web interface. A self-hosted control plane adds job management and a separate read-only health view around that foundation.
The project boundary
- Repeatable workstation enrollment and configuration.
- CLI-compatible automation definitions.
- A web layer for controlled task execution.
- Persistent control-plane state and documented validation.
- A deliberately limited scope focused on shared Linux PCs.
A public architectural overview only
The README records staged implementation and physical validation, with some later acceptance checks still outstanding. Those records are not presented here as a guarantee that every deployment task is complete.
Actual inventories, hostnames, keys, network routes and operator procedures are excluded from this page. The featured illustration uses generic computers and connections rather than reproducing the real network.
