OpenDataSets — Danish Open Data

Processed Danish word lists, statistics and data-source catalogs distributed as straightforward CSV, JSON and text files with integrity manifests.

Conceptual illustration of Danish open data as organized tables, file tiles, time-series charts and a small Danish flag.

Ready-to-use files instead of a running service

OpenDataSets is the distribution side of a Danish open-data workflow. It contains processed, static lists in CSV, JSON and plain UTF-8 text, organized so they can be downloaded and used directly in scripts, spreadsheets, games or analytical tools.

The repository README records 186 files totaling approximately 46.2 MB in its October 22, 2026 synchronization snapshot. That is a count of distributed files and format variants, not a claim that every file represents a separate original source.

What the catalog contains

  • Danish word lists derived from Det Centrale Ordregister, including base forms, word-length subsets, palindromes and word-game lists.
  • Additional linguistic subsets covering grammar, parts of speech, spelling corrections and word curiosities.
  • A catalog of more than 60 Danish open-data sources and APIs, with source and access information.
  • Historical Statistics Denmark series for alcohol and tobacco sales/consumption.
  • Top-50 newborn-name lists drawn from official Statistics Denmark releases.

Simple formats, consistent organization

Dataset folders preserve the logical source taxonomy and separate available format variants into dedicated subdirectories. This makes it possible to choose a human-readable text list, a spreadsheet-friendly CSV or a structured JSON representation without changing the subject area being used.

The collection can support small language games, vocabulary experiments, data-discovery tools and historical analysis. Users should inspect the relevant file structure, units and source documentation before treating a list as input to a particular application.

Integrity and provenance

A dataset manifest records file sizes and SHA-256 checksums. Those records provide a way to verify that downloaded material matches a documented distribution state and to track changes across synchronizations.

This repository contains processed distribution artifacts rather than a hosted API or the full acquisition pipeline. OpenDataMCP is a related repository that exposes Danish language resources as tools for compatible AI assistants.

Reuse follows the source license

Licensing differs by dataset family. The README identifies COR-derived lists and the Danish data-source catalog as CC0 1.0, while Statistics Denmark datasets use CC BY 4.0 and require appropriate attribution.

Preserve source references and consult the applicable dataset documentation before redistribution. The featured illustration represents the idea of an organized open-data archive; it is not a chart of the actual data or a literal view of a distributed file.
